With the utilization of the DeepVision DE680D side scan sonar, large swaths of seabed can be imaged in high resolution to pick out small targets. At maximum range, the towfish has a swath width of 200m (656ft) and a resolution of 1cm. With 200m of cable, the towfish is able to fly closer to the seabed in deeper depths to increase clarity. Individual side scan tracks can be viewed in real time and corrected for layback afterwards for accurate locations. The tracks can also be displayed as a mosaic on a nautical chart to determine what areas have been covered. Data can be exported in a native .DVS or industry standard .XTF file formats.
